Join us for a candidate forum!
Glendale is a city made up of many voices, and we believe all of them deserve to be heard.
That’s why we’re proud, as GUSD parents, to partner with glendaleOUT to host an upcoming People’s Forum for Glendale City Council candidates. This forum is rooted in a simple idea: creating space for a broader, more representative conversation about the future of our city.
Many candidate forums in Glendale are traditionally sponsored by homeowners’ associations. Those spaces are important, but they do not always reflect the full picture of who makes up our community. In Glendale, approximately 65% of residents are renters, compared to 35% homeowners, a majority whose perspectives, priorities, and lived experiences deserve equal visibility in civic dialogue.
As parents in the Glendale Unified School District, we see every day how diverse our community truly is. Our families include renters and homeowners, longtime residents and newcomers, and people from all backgrounds who are invested in the well-being of our schools, neighborhoods, and city as a whole.
This People’s Forum is an opportunity to center that diversity. It’s about expanding the conversation, welcoming different perspectives, and creating an opportunity for candidates to engage with the full spectrum of Glendale residents.
We also hope that hosting a forum including a more representative group of community members will help encourage higher voter participation. In the 2024 primary, only about 36% of eligible voters participated, and we believe that when more people feel seen and included in the process, more people show up.
We are grateful to glendaleOUT for their partnership and shared commitment to inclusion, representation, and community-driven dialogue. Together, we hope to create a forum that feels accessible, relevant, and reflective of the people who call Glendale home.
We look forward to seeing you there.
