Public education is for everyone.
GUSD Parents is a coalition of public education supporters. We are past, present, and future parents of GUSD students. We are neighbors, grandparents, GUSD graduates, and teachers. We are voters who know the value a strong public school district brings to our community.
GUSD Parents exists to provide facts and resources to empower everyone to advocate for and support public education in order to protect this fundamental part of our democracy. We are actively engaged in supporting local and state candidates and ballot propositions that support public school students. Elections are March 5, 2028. Reach out to us if you are interested in running for GUSD or to advocate with us to protect Glendale’s public schools.
Public education is a convenient target.
The far-right attacks on GUSD - whether the moral panic is focused on DEI, CRT, screen time, or anti-LGBTQ hate - are part of broader efforts to delegitimize the democratic norm of free, secular, public education that is available to all children in the United States.
The extremists’ goal? To take a case all the way to the Supreme Court in order to create a taxpayer-funded private school voucher system that would defund and destroy the public education system as we know it today. (If you want to see how that is working, check out Arizona.)
The MAGA movement is just the latest chapter in a 50-year plan to eliminate public education.
